Each day of the trip seem to be dominated by one species, either in terms of number of sightings or a particularly spectacular close-up or action view. Aug 23 was Red-backed Shrike day. We kept seeing them every which way. We saw them quite often on other days too, but that day they really caught our attention again and again with photogenic perches and close-up views. Later on it became "And another Red-backed Shrike over there (ho hum)". So quickly we become jaded ;) Of course, Aug 23 was also bear day, and my first bee-eater day, but the bears were accustomed to coming to feeders by a hide, and the bee-eaters were pretty distant and seen at dusk. What really characterized the day was all those lovely shots of R-b Shrikes. Expect them to be interspersed with other species over the next week or two of my posts, until I get tired of Aug 23 and move on to Aug 24 ;)
