Red-Bellied Woodpecker, male (Melanerpes carolinus)

A nice, bright day, but still very cold -- 32 degrees F (0 degrees C) when I got this shot. Mr. Red-Bellied put on quite a show for me!
Habitat
meadow, farmland, horse pasture
Location
backyard, near Fort Ashby, WV
Date taken
1-13-15
Scientific name
Melanerpes carolinus
Equipment used
Olympus SP-510 UZ
Same temp here this morning although we have snow on everything. Gorgeous bird here, looks like it's getting some exercise eating from that feeder. Very nice shot tfs!

Thanks, Wonderview! Our snow from a week ago is almost all melted. I'm seeing a couple of flakes come down now, but there is no snow predicted for today.
