A transitional area of the Lampasas Cut Plain and the Blackland Prairie Vegetational Areas. Urban setting along a riparian dominated with cedar elm and Hackberry at 175 m (575 ft) elevation.
Location
Pepper Creek Trail, Temple, Bell County, Texas, USA.

Wow, that's a strikingly handsome bird! Great shot Stanley. The bird is nicely camouflaged - except for the brilliant red head, but evolution knows what it's doing ;)
