Red-bellied Woodpecker (Melanerpes carolinus)

Hi all, I finally took some time and spent a few hours outside with my camera. I've had a suet feeder up all summer and it has attracted all my local Woodpeckers as well as Jays, Chickadees, Titmouse, Orioles and on and on.

The gardens are winding down for the season so I'm hoping to be able to spend more time with my birds.

I am glad to hear you have been attending to your splendid garden, a time consuming, but obviously very rewarding pursuit. This is a typically brilliant image by you of a beautiful woodpecker with some amazing detail. I love the red eye. I look forward to seeing more of your wonderful images when you have a bit more time to spare, Deanne.

Another wonderfully detailed and expressive portrait,Deanne :t::t: :clap::clap:

This is simply stunning Deanne - absolute perfection with wonderful detail and colour.

Excellent detail, exposure, and lighting, Deane; great pose with a great view of that foot and how it's used, very well done.
