Red Headed Woodpecker

Red Headed Woodpecker (Melanerpes erythrocephalus)

Taken 2 summers ago - I always loved this pose!
Habitat
Backyard
Location
NE Corner Illinois
Date taken
Summer 2018
Scientific name
Melanerpes erythrocephalus
Equipment used
Samsung WB350F
Thanks for looking!
This was one of my first bird pictures and the one that gave me the bug to shoot more.
The Samsung wasn't a bad little camera with 21 optical zoom but I hope to learn and do more with the FZ80/82

Such a beautiful woodpecker with that lovely iridescent red head.... and what a pose too!

A super picture this Wader - very well done my friend.

Let me know when you're ready to start with that first article, and I'll help with get going with it.

Delia - I don't see where to quote or reply to a specific message. What is this article you speak of?! Me write an article..not quite ready for that yet! 8^)

Daniel - we've had more Downy Woodpeckers this year than I've ever seen before. Not really sure if they're Downy or Hairy... I know one is smaller. Was really surprised to see a Red Headed eating Grape Jelly from the Oriole feeder the other day!

Oooops!! LOL would you believe that the dreaded S.M's crept into my post Wader!!!:eek!:

I was completely talking to the wrong person. Fear I'm getting too old for this job sometimes!

Forgive me?

And I saw my first woodpecker of the year yesterday - quite exciting for me.

No, the Gallery doesn't use the same software as the forums. What you can do, is underneath someones comment is a few options, one of which is Gallery. If you click on that it will take you to their Gallery and you can select a post to reply to.

Alternatively, if it's more confidential, you can take one of the other options there which is PM (short for Private Message).

Delia.. no worries - i'm a little senior myself 8^)
Can't believe how many woodpeckers we've seen this year. Never saw the Downy before...and a few Flickers too!
