Red-shouldered Hawk Chick - First days out of the Nest

9 days after the banding, and less than a month old, this Red-shouldered Hawk chick ventures outside the nest. He hasn't learned that it's difficult to grasp such a thin tree branch, and he flapped his wings to try to achieve some balance. You can almost count the feathers.
