This red-tailed hawk flew a low pass over some bushes with sparrows (didn't get any) then alighted on a lamp post about 10ft from me. I was so close with my giant 1600mm setup that I had to backup about 20ft and even then was barely able to get him in the full frame.
Quite an amazing amount of detail. This is downsampled to 5 MP (from 16MP), but you can still see the shadows of the feathers on the pupil.
This was shot with an Olympus E-M5.2 with Nikon 800mm AI-s lens, manual focus, on a tripod with gimbal head. I believe the lens was at f/11, but it might have been f/8 -- the metabones lens adapter does not convey the f-stop setting.
