Red-winged Blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus)

This male bird must have just completed its pre-basic moult which is the explanation of the colored fringes to the back feathers. These wear off and by January it would be all black.

As many RW Blackbirds I have seen Niels, I've never had the pleasure of viewing a male in this state of appearance. Nicely captured.
