Red-winged Starling
This is a male; females are similar but have a gray head. This species was originally confined to cliffs and gorges for nesting, but now also takes advantage of buildings and other man-made structures in urban areas. Two subspecies are usually recognized. Southern African birds are the shorter tailed, nominate "O. m. morio."
