Reddish Egret (Egretta rufescens dickeyi)

An uncommon visitor to the coast of Southern California, this is the west coast subspecies "dickeyi" which typically shows a paler head and neck compared to the nominate race found on the Gulf Coast of eastern North America. Unlike eastern birds, the white morph is unknown in "dickeyi."
