What a nice bird to get in your garden. Fabulous focus, dof, colors, pose, detail, and setting. TFS Donald!

Wow, rather an event! I wouldn't associate Redpolls with birdbaths either, but that's birds: creatures of habit but also able to spring sudden surprises. And this is a fine record of the event - it must have been a bit nerve-wracking trying to get the camera up to speed before they both disappeared. Nice work Donald! And it's a very effective composition with the whole birdbath in view and the bird placed stage right.

A couple of years ago my brother looked out of the window, and there was a Peregrine on the lawn. He had his camera to hand, but a relatively short lens fitted. He went to fetch his Nikon 80-400mm, by the time he got back the bird was gone, I'd have grabbed a couple of quick shots with any lens that was on the camera, just as insurance.
