Regal Sunbird

The Regal Sunbird (Cinnyris regius) is a small, brightly colored bird native to the montane forests of Central Africa, particularly in countries like Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Males are especially striking, with vibrant metallic green, red, and yellow plumage, while females are more subdued with olive or greyish tones. Like other sunbirds, they primarily feed on nectar but also consume insects and spiders. Their slender, curved beaks are perfectly adapted for accessing flowers, playing an important role in pollination. Regal Sunbirds are often found flitting energetically among flowering plants and trees.
