Resting on the HMCS Montreal 200 NM out at Sea

About a week and a half ago, I posted a picture of a small bird that I thought not to be commonly found on the open sea.

I have a twin brother on the HMCS Montreal, they are currently sailing outside the 200 NM limit looking for illegal fishing and conducting various NATO exercises.

I guess a few number of birds have taken refuge on the ship and rested there for a few hours before flying off.

The pic I posted a week and a half ago a few people recognized as a Purple Finch.

This next pic definitely looks like a sea bird. It looks like some kind of Puffin. It was taken October 27th, and the bird is resting up against one of the ships walls.
A well earned rest no doubt. I think the bird is a little auk but I stand to be corrected.

Little Auk - aka Dovekie - (Alle alle) for me as well.

Usually they stick close in to the coast often in very large groups, but can get blown out to sea and exhausted in bad weather. They're very accomplished divers.
