Robin (sun bathing)

Robin (sun bathing)

Whilst photographing peregrines I had a blackbird and a robin both come to sunbathe beside me. When I first visited Bolton and photographed this bird I thought I'd get it feeding from my hand. I am sure with meal worms it would have done. Unfortunately other people were around and cramping my style but the robin did sit by my tripod legs whilst I had the camera lens pointing up at the church for peregrines. A couple of times it sunbathed at my feet. You can't ask for more from nature...or this lovely robin. I did get covered by an army of ants when I did the low shots.

You sure he wasn't doing tricks for a meal Adrian ? ;)

Nice behaviour shot.

I love it when birds sunbathe, but I can seldom get close to them without them leaping to their feet - this is a beautiful shot Adrian!

Poor Adrian! Your crawling seems to be damned: if the ground is not too dirty, then the ants come to pester you! |=)| But I guess this happy Robin all ruffled enjoying the sunshine (a goodie conspicuous by its absence) is worth every nuisance!!! :bounce: Super pic!!! :t: :t:

Nothing Adrian!! is the simple answer mate,, think this perhaps the best (any bird) sunbathing image I have seen :t::t::t:

Super shot Adi, love watching these little fellas, full entertainment value. Thanks for the info.
