Rocky I Think (Anthus petrosus)

See this little fella scuttling around the harbour at West Quay near Bridport, Dorset, during a stop for a cuppa. I think its a Rock Pipit, as its somewhat darker than a Meadow Pipit, I'm sure some of you ace birders out there will put me right.

Rocky Coasts
Location
West Bay, Bridport, Dorset
Date taken
November 2008
Scientific name
Anthus petrosus

It looks to have enormous feet, it's certainly striding out, good catch Mali:t:eek::)

Hi Mali,

Yes, this is a Rock Pipit of the Western European form petrosus. Key points are the generally darker appearance with dark bill and legs and a dark eyestripe. Typical winter habitat for this species.

:bounce: Very nicely caught during its afternoon walk, Mali!!! o:) :t: :t: (I'm longing for finding one of these guys around here!)
