Roebuck cleaning his antlers (Capreolus capreolus)

I did a series of mammal illustration for a book with complete background. I post some of them here. I've started with this early spring scene. I really enjoyed trying myself in mammals.
I've painted this with watercolours, adding titanium white gouache to the colours to achieve the covering effect.
Habitat
beech forest
Date taken
2008 spring
Scientific name
Capreolus capreolus
Equipment used
watercolour and gouache on paper
A beautiful painting you'v got great skill I love every-thing about this painting thank's Martin.

A beautiful detailed work Szabi, will be looking out for more posts :t:

Thank you very much for all your comments!
In fact I did the leaf litter quite quickly, trying not to paint individual leaves, but tried to find a brush-handling that gives the effect of such surface. I'm moving more and more towards a loose style, I want to go far away from phtorealistic style. I wanted to attatch a smaller detail in bigger size to show the litter closeup, but didn't find the opportunity to do it in a comment. Can you help me? If it's possible I would like to show this detail, but it's not worth posting it as separate picture.
These mammal paintings were completed in single days (15-16 working hours).

Thanks a lot for the idea! I would never think about this simple solution. So please check the link that Perca gave to have an idea about the style I used painting this. Is it useful? Or shall I change the image to another detail where you can see bigger part of the litter?
