Rose-breasted Grosbeak -fall (Pheucticus ludovicianus)

Thanks for all the kind words on my lat picture
Our grosbeak are in our area now. It has been raining here for the last several days, darker skies, makes it harder to get their picture. They show up every Fall and Spring. We have more young ones this fall. Some of the grosbeaks have a darker yellow color, is that because they are younger?---Have a great weekend

.... I don't really know Ella; though he does seem to have a rather 'young' look about him somehow.

A super picture and if it does turn out to be a young one, may well find its way to the Opus article.

Very well done lass, and thanks for sharing it.

The first winter male will indeed be bright yellow/orange but the breast will be clear of streaks and the streaks on the flanks will be almost continuous opposed to the short streaks that extend onto its breast which is a non breeding female which includes first winter females. I hope this is some help Ella. A gorgeous picture you posted!!!!
