Rose-breasted Grosbeak
I believe this is an adult male in winter (basic) plumage although it may be retaining some first alternate (spring) feathers. They take two years to reach full adult plumage. Chowing down on sunflower seeds in our back yard, this image was taken through our back window They are rare but regular visitors to California from the East.
