Ross's Turaco (Musophaga rossae) is a striking, medium-sized bird native to the forests and woodlands of Central Africa. It is known for its vivid plumage, featuring deep blue feathers with a bright red crest, wings, and tail. The face and beak are yellow, creating a vibrant contrast. Unlike many birds, turacos have unique pigments—turacins and turacoverdins—that give their feathers true red and green colors.
Ross's Turaco is a frugivore, primarily feeding on fruits, but it may also eat flowers and leaves. It is a social species, often seen in small, noisy groups moving through the treetops. While it has strong legs for climbing, it is also a capable glider.
