Rough-legged Buzzard

Rough-legged Buzzard (Buteo lagopus)

Hovering like a Kestrel beside the small ponds on the shore where the Fire-bellied Toads mate (but we were too early for them this year). It was looking for voles I suppose. I took lots of pictures though I wasn't entirely happy with any of them. It was a great experience though.

Thanks very much to all of you for the great response to this Rough-legged Buzzard image!
I was very happy to see it, Margaret, though it took me a while to figure out what it was.Lucky it stayed around for a while. The hovering is a good ID pointer, Delia, and so is the white tail. They remind me more of Harriers than Buzzards and that's what I thought it was at first.
