Ruby-throated Hummingbird

Ruby-throated Hummingbird (Archilochus colubris)

I set this shot up. Couldn't get the Hummers to the flowers so I brought the flower to the Hummers. Placed it infront of the feeder so when she came to the feeder it appears she is on the flower. Worth a try I guess.

Very nice shot, wouldn't have known it was a setup, if you hadn't told. Well done.

This is brilliant Donny. Well done!

How low was your feeder? This is an excellent idea.

KC the feeder hangs about 10 inches above the porch rail and is on a swivle. I adjusted the plant and angle of view to cover the feeder. I also set the flashes at right angles to each other. Think I will play with it more tomorrow. They have started feeding about every 10-15 minutes so I get more chances now. I only have one male, that I don't see much, and 2 females. Hoping for more.

A couple of beautiful hummer shots here, Donny! Checking your site I see there are a lot more. Great stuff!

Well, if you hadn't told us, I wouldn't have known it was set up - I thought she was on the flower. :-O It's a splendid photo, great work!
