Ruby-throated Hummingbird

Ruby-throated Hummingbird (Archilochus colubris)

I'd thought the Hummers were all gone for the season but this lovely juvie showed up the other day and entertained me for a bit. They really love the salvia and this particular plant is called Salvia 'Wendy's Wish'. I quite love the color of this and it's bloomed non stop since the spring. I always plant the gardens with plenty of salvias, fuchsias and cupheas for the Hummingbirds.

This shot was taken at ISO500, F6.3 and 1/3200. Even at that shutter speed that wing tip is still a bit blurred. Incredible birds! I just love that you can see the flowers through that delicate wing.
