Ruddy-breasted Seedeater (male)
Ruddy-breasted Seedeater (Sporophila minuta centralis) Currently three subspecies are recognized with only subspecies centralis being mapped for Panama. Photographed at Ammo Dump Ponds, Coln Province, Panama. Low grasslands around the swampy-marsh surrounded by a secondary humid forest at ca. 38 m (125 ft) elevation. Associated with the Yellow-bellied Seedeater which was more common. This bird is sitting on constantine wire which is attached to barbed-wire on top of a an 8 foot chain-link fence to keep unauthorized people out of the ammo dump. Species sexually dimorphic.

Low grasslands around the swampy-marsh surrounded by a secondary humid forest at ca. 38 m (125 ft) elevation.
