Female seedeaters are notoriously difficult to identify. This female Ruddy-breasted Seedeater was identified by its small size, comparable to the associated male and lack of yellow tones on the underparts. It also has more fringing on the wing coverts cf. the female Yellow-bellied Seedeater.
A super trio of pictures today Joe..... and I think this female looks rather different to the one by RKA.
I've a feeling the pictures in The Opus could do with some additions and perhaps re-shuffling, if you want to handle that? Especially as it seems to be a rather tricky species.
