Ruddy Ducks (Oxyura jamaicensis) with an American Coot (Fulica americana)
Habitat
Chihuahuan Desert, Balmorhea Lake fed by Sandia and Toyha Creeks, the lake is surrounded by creosote flats except behind the northwest dam which is the Sandia Wetlands and a reservoir outlet canal dominated by salt cedar below the southeastern dam. The normal elevation of the lake is 971 m (3,187 ft).

Two beautiful captures Stan...I cant remember the last time I see one of these handsome ducks...They've all been shot over here buddy.

a great shot stan... there was quite a few around here at one time but there was a cull on them to stop them breeding with other kind of ducks.....
