Ruddy Turnstone (breeding plumage)
Ruddy Turnstone (Arenaria interpres morinella) There are two recognized subspecies with only subspecies morinella mapped for Texas. Sexes similar. One of my favorite all time pictures, not because of the quality or subject matter but because it illustrates how things are not always like they seem. This bird is standing in the middle of an asphalt parking lot recently flooded from a thunderstorm. Indian Point Park and Pier, Portland, Nueces County, Texas, USA. Bay side parking lot, Corpus Christi Bay.

Three lovely images Stan, well done buddy...These beauties are not back down South yet, from their Northern breeding grounds.
