Rufescent Tiger-Heron

Rufescent Tiger-Heron (Tigrisoma lineatum)

Sat in the company of this stunning bird for nearly one hour to get this shot. 40 minutes pecking in the mud to find his prey, 15 minutes tossing it up in the air to get the perfect angle to swallow it so as not to choke to death on the spiny fins in case it goes down the wrong way. Some have to work hard for their supper... Remember that when you open your next tin of sardines!

Impressive picture Francesca. Your long wait had to have been entertaining watching this Heron earn its meal and then figuring out how to get it down. Thanks for sharing this remarkable action picture!!!
