Took me some considerable time to identify the bird in the middle of this (cropped) shot as a Ruff having never seen one before; every other bird-watcher was at the other end of the canal waiting to see the spotted crake! Very pleased to have seen this colourful bird, weaving its way through these reeds around the ducks.
