Rufous-Crowned Sparrow (Aimophila ruficeps)

Arguably one of the friendliest birds on my property. They allow very close approaches, and don't shy away easily. They love to sing in the early morning hours, often my cue to go at and do a photo session with them. They like low scrubby, dark areas to hide in, but often are the times, while placing food out for my other yard visitors, that I'll nearly step on one of these. Some times, when I'm placing food out for the other birds, I'll leave the shed open. Then darkness of the shed will attract this little sparrows and I have to go through the shed to make sure there are none there: don't want to trap one in there.
