Rufous-gaped Hummingbird (Urochroa bougueri)

This bird (an endangered species) was photographed at Pasha Quinde private reserve in NW Ecuador. While the photo is pretty ordinary, the individual bird is extraordinary. It lives on a private reserve and has a very distinct white feather on its back which makes the individual easy to identify. The owner of the reserve, Tony, has documented this bird for 17 years, which has to be a world record for longevity.
