This funky-looking bird is a Ruspoli's Turaco, an Ethiopian endemic restricted to a very small area in the south of the country. Not an easy species to find, it is even harder to photograph so imagine David Hoddinotts surprise when this chap flew right in and landing in the open just a few meters away, even remaining long enough for him to snap some superb images in the process. This fortuitous event took place along the Genale River, approximately 100km south of the town of Negele.
