Saddleback
Not an easy bird to get a photograph because of them feeding in bush shadows. They are very easily caught by predators because of their habit of feeding on the ground. Some of the survivors, it is hoped they will breed off springs that are more predator aware.

Well, hopefully they will learn Dick. NPR had a show about the term "birdbrained" That it should actually denote talent and intelligence

A really beautiful image of this Saddleback which is only the second image of this species to be uploaded in the history of the BF Gallery. Nice work guy.

Great shot in all aspects Dick , very well taken and done my friend , many tfs ;)
I see three rings /perhaps plastic rings/ on its legs !
I feel and think those rings in long term tease the bird , if all of us as supporters of birds could inform those who attach these rings /for whatever purpose / that birds suffer of these rings they might find another better way for their purpose !

Many tfs my friend ;)

Great goodness... what a wonderful find for you Dick!!! A super picture to get of such a rarity.

I do hop they eventually learn to be predator aware. they're such an attractive bird with their saddle and the funny wattles too.

Very well done lad - thanks so much for sharing this picture with us.
