Sahul Sunbird
The former Olive-backed Sunbird (Cinnyris jugularis) has been split into eight different species as follows:

*Ornate Sunbird - SE Asia west of Wallace's Line.
*Tukangbesi Sunbird - Wakatobi Islands, off southeastern Sulawesi.
*Sahul Sunbird - Australasia east of Wallace's Line.
*Garden Sunbird - Philippines
*Palawan Sunbird - Southwestern Philippines
*South Moluccan Sunbird - Southern Moluccas
*Flores Sea Sunbird - Islands in the Flores Sea
*Mamberamo Sunbird - Northern New Guinea

So defined, there are four different subspecies of Sahul Sunbird of which this is the nominate. Formerly known as Yellow-bellied Sunbird (Nectarinia jugularis) and the only sunbird (Nectariniidae) found in Australia. The female is similar but lacks the striking iridescent blue gorget.
