Same, same, but different
At first we thought these were two Snowy Egrets, but look closely ... The one with the yellow boots (or golden slippers, if you prefer) is obviously a Snowy. But the other one does have one foot lifted, and no yellow. Also, no bluish rather than yellow lores. So not a Snowy, but a juvenile Little Blue Heron. This was my first time seeing a juvenile. Or ... maybe not? Maybe just the first time realizing I wasn't looking at a Snowy?
Sorry about the poor photo quality. It was a long stretch across that pond, even for a 400 lens.

They sure do look similar but you can clearly ID the Snowy ;)
 
An interesting capture, Ann.

By the way - no it wasn't cold in New England. The temperatures along the coast were 21c and in the mountains/national forests, it varied between 12-14c.
