San Cristobal Mockingbird

San Cristobal Mockingbird (Mimus melanotis)

On our first day, having flown in from Ecuador, we were given a couple of hours to explore the small town before being ferried out to the ship on zodiacs. Knowing that there was an endemic mockingbird here, we walked to a small nature reserve nearby and on the way spotted our first lifer of the trip - the San Cristobal Mockingbird! We managed to find 5 more lifers that afternoon, a great start on our trip and a total of 13 species on that first day.
