Sanderling (Calidris alba) Sexes similar. This one is almost in full breeding plumage. Bathing in fresh rainwater in a depression. San Luis Pass, Brazoria County, Texas, USA. Situated on the south-western end of Galveston Island, a barrier island. Gulf of Mexico on the exposed side and West Bay on the sheltered side.

Barrier Island, at ca. 1 m (3.3 ft) elevation.
