SAT. FUN - A STORY
Some time ago I ran out of sunflower seeds. It's been quite a while since I had any as I keep forgetting to pick some up. So I have been feeding the birds unsalted peanuts that we have a large supply of. Yesterday I finally picked up some sunflower seeds, and I put some out as soon as I got home. Then I stood back and watched the birds go at it. Except for one Nuthatch. It landed on the feeder, tested and threw aside several seeds, then looked at me. I kid you not, it just sat there staring at me, blinking occasionally. Finally I realized what he wanted, and said, "You want a peanut, don't you?" I stepped inside, grabbed a handful, and came back out. The little fellow was still there. He immediately flew to my hand, grabbed the fattest peanut, and went happily on his way.
