Savannah - Large-billed Sparrow
Sorry about the grainy photo, but I was running out of light and really wanted to capture this sparrow.

According to the Opus, this Large-billed Sparrow, Passerculus rostratus is a split off from the Savannah Sparrow. There are two Savannah's in our area, The P.s. rostratusa and the P.s. atratus.

These birds were found in the Sierra De La Laguna Biosphere, at + or - 2000 feet.
Habitat

See, we learn something every day ;) I did not know there were two species of this Sparrow even though I've captured and posted photos of them. Nicely captured Tom.

That's a super picture you've got of this sparrow Tom. Very well done for finding him.

Not all authorities have yet split this one from the main group as yet, but it will likely happen before too long. I'll upload this picture to the article, so it will be easy to find and transfer to the new page.

Thanks so much for sharing this image with us.

Thank you for the picture and information. Truly lots to learn. I will watch for this bird the next time I go up to the reserve.
