Scarce
This smaller guy, was even further away than the swan. It was actually rather difficult trying to get him in the viewfinder!! Well you know what grebes are like when you try to photograph them!!

Why "scarce"... well I only saw two of them during my time out there and Hans was delighted when I showed him, as it was the first time he'd seen one for some years.

They are a different subspecies to the European ones, and don't have a winter plumage!

I didn't realise they lived in Australia, Delia, great to see a familiar face so far away from home, top class, many tfs!!!

That is quite interesting about them not having a alternative plumage. Nice treat for you and for Hans. Keen eyes D! TFS!
