There's only one nesting box for the Goldeneyes at the botanical garden duck pond. So the two pairs that were there this summer took turns. This is the second-tenancy female. Her ducklings were just hatched and out on the water that day.

Ducklings in the water the day they hatched? Unbelievable!

A great image of this female Ann and beautifully captured girl. Now I want to see the ducklings ;)

What an interesting scenario with the two couples taking turns with the nest box. I hope someone suggested to the Botanical Garden that they could use another nest box (lol). Lovely picture of this attractive female. TFS Doc and for the narrative!

That's amazing they took turns Ann. You'd think there'd have been a right battle over the prime nesting site. I guess, as they ducklings aren't nestlings for any length of time, there's plenty of time to reuse the nest box.

A great tale this lass, thanks.
