Semiplumbeous Hawk C-RICA SER 2
This striking, small- to medium-sized hawk is a resident of the canopy of moist tropical forests, and has a limited range in Central America and nearby northern South America. It sits quietly in the canopy, waiting for a prey individual (includes a wide range of small vertebrates) to reveal itself, and then darts toward it with lightning speed. This species is not often seen, and, typically when seen is rapidly flying above or through the forest canopy. It takes a good visual image in a birder's mind's-eye to find one sitting and waiting to pounce on prey.

What a great picture you've taken of this guy Ronald. Such a rare visitor to the Gallery too... and i think i can understand why from your description!!

This is a clearer image than the one currently showing in Opus, so I'll swap them shortly - many thanks for sharing him with us lad.
