Sentinel (Chlidonias niger)

Out on the Boardwalk (0.3miles). Noting that there was a lot of Terns. I took some pictures. Then some people go on by. So I start over waiting for a couple more groups. Patients, and moving slow I head out again. This Sentinel kept me at about the same distance away, over, and over. This is a molting Black Tern, and I have some more images in different stages of molting. Those Juveniles are usually easy to approach if your lucky.

Another terrific image of the Black Tern Brian. A tern I have never seen but hope to someday.

The molting adults are wild looking Brian. A fabulous picture of this juvenile and molting adult. Brilliant!!!!

I'm very sorry to say this, but my first thought at the sight of this guy was that a seagull had flown over and pooped on his head! LOL! Moulting does some interesting things to a bird, doesn't it? Great shot you've captured.
