Short eared owl in the mist (Asio flammeus)

Short eared owl in the mist - the weather men tell porkies. They said the fog was going to clear at midday. Ha, it didn't. Did I care. No, because I was privileged to have been in the company of a pair of short eared owls. Not good light obviously but just watching them made my day.
Habitat
In the UK they breed primarily in Northern England and Scotland, but are seen more widely in winter. Short-eared owls are best looked for in winter on coastal marshes and wetlands. However, birdwatchers must be careful to avoid disturbance at communal roo
