Mandarin Drake (Aix galericulata)

This bird has been resident on the River Ugie in NE Scotland for at least a year. It is unringed and free flying. All it wants is a mate.

it always makes my day to see these, at least this one has its freedom unlike the "collection" ones.
 
Not an indiginous bird I am presuming. Nice to have that kind of "panace" around, hard to miss this one. :up:
 
Yes, there is a small breeding population in the UK, the nearest one to this bird as far as I know is on the River Tay in Perth, only 120 miles away.
