Lapland Bunting

Lapland Bunting (Calcarius lapponicus)

First time I've managed a photo of a 'Lap'... so shown for that reason rather than it being an aesthetic masterpiece, which it obviously isn't ;)

5 'Laps' dropped down into the long grass at Salthouse on friday... credit to BF mem firstreesjohn and his ears for picking them up in the first place, then we both went about trying to find them in the long grass.

Shame they stayed in the deep grass, which prevented clear shots.

Salthouse, Norfolk

12-10-07
Scientific name
Calcarius lapponicus

Another stunner Andy. We've had a few around here but I've not caught up with any yet.
