A little yellow to brighten the day (Carduelis psaltria)

Lesser Goldfinches occur year round in my area; yet I only see them at the niger feeder in the winter and early spring. Whenever possible they like to feed on a more natural diet. These are the smallest of the goldfinches found in North America. This is the Adult Western Male, distinguished from the Adult Texas Male by the lack of black all along his back as a Texas male would have.
Habitat
Can be found in a variety of habitats at various elevations often found near water.
Location
Backyard, Hereford, Arizona, USA
Date taken
December 16, 2007
Scientific name
Carduelis psaltria
Equipment used
Canon 20D with 100-400 IS Lens
