Long eared owl at Elmley-painting (Asio otus)

A wonderful encounter with a long eared owl who was giving good views at Elmley a couple of weeks ago allowed a long field drawing and this looser style painting is the follow up.
Habitat
Abandoned orchard
Location
Elmley
Date taken
painted 2009
Scientific name
Asio otus
Equipment used
acrylic
Excellent work!! must have taken courage to overlap the body of the owl with twigs and leaves, like the half shut eye.

Nice relaxed style Mike, sums him up brilliantly. (I found remains of his partner by old school - from holes in skull, a Peregrine took it).

Beautiful painting. Love the loose brushwork and overal softness which fit well the "dreaming" owl.
