Frosty heron (Ardea cinerea)

This was taken this morning at Filham Lake near Ivybridge. The heron was sitting on a gate in the fence around the lake, seemingly oblivious of all the dog walkers who were taking an interest in him. This shot was taken with a 55mm lens as I had left my longer one at home (much to my regret) but has only been marginally cropped as he let me get within about 20 feet.

I haven't posted on here for a while, but Happy Christmas everyone anyway!

Love the shot of one of my favourite birds, perhaps he was trying to keep his feet a little warmer on the gate instead, Great to get so close to one of these magnicent birds and look forward to seeing more from you. Happy Christmas!
