Gray-breasted Sabrewing
Gray-breasted Sabrewing (Campylopterus largipennis aequatorialis) There have been four subspecies described, one occurs in Peru, aequatorialis. Photographed on feeders at Amazonia Lodge. Several pictures were taken away from the feeders but all resulted in operator error though I would like to blame it on pisco sours, there were always two birds and I just couldnt decide which of the two birds to photograph. It was odd how they were always in pairs when I drank this wonderful Peruvian drink. River-edge forest, a lowland rainforest along the banks of Rio Alto Madre de Dios in the Madre de Dios District at ca. 488 m (1,600 ft) elevation. Humid Forest Life Zone. North of Atalaya (end of Manu Road). Sexes more or less similar.
