Red-capped Cardinal
Red-capped Cardinal (Paroaria gularis gularis) Currently three subspecies are recognized with only the nominate being mapped in Peru. Photographed from a Catamaran (powered by man) on Cocha Comungo Oxbow Lake near Manu Wildlife Center Lodge, east of Boca Manu. Cocha Comungo Oxbow itself consists of open water, marshes and swamps. Surrounding habitat is river-edge forest; a lowland rainforest along the banks of Rio Madre de Dios at ca. 290 m (951 ft) elevation. Humid Forest Life Zone.

Great capture and bird, Stanley; I like how it appears to have found the only lookout perch that'll take it's weight, well done.
 
Stanley, I love the capture you made of this gorgeous species in beautiful color & clarity in what looks to be high grass swamp land? It certainly is exotic. Thank you for sharing.
